Big blow for Mumbai Indians, the veteran stopped his 9-year tenure

Shane Bond is the bowling coach of five-time IPL champion Mumbai Indians. Now the 9-year career of the former New Zealand fast bowler, who was playing the role of bowling coach of the franchise since 2015, has come to an end.

Bond has been a fast bowler for Mumbai Indians for several seasons and has also been the head coach of MI Emirates in the inaugural edition of the ILT20. Under his leadership, the team made it to Qualifier 2, where they were defeated by the Gulf Giants.

Mumbai Indians announced Bond’s separation through an official release, saying:

Mumbai Indians announced that Shane Bond’s successful tenure that started in 2015 has come to an end after a nine-year stint with the team, bringing an end to his illustrious career. His career includes 4 IPL trophies as the bowling coach for Mumbai Indians and as the head coach of MI Emirates in the inaugural season in the ILT20. One of the greatest bowlers of his generation, Shane’s approach to bowling was that of an artist, able to master conditions and perform for the team as a player, leader and then as a coach.

Shane Bond describes his career with Mumbai Indians as an incredible experience

The Kiwi legend thanked the Ambani family for giving him the opportunity to be a part of the Mumbai Indians franchise, and also mentioned some important things. They said,

I am Ambani family I would like to thank MI for giving me the opportunity to be a part of the MI One family for the last nine seasons. It has been an incredible experience with many great memories on and off the field. I have been fortunate to work with and have strong relationships with so many great people, both players and staff. I will miss them all and wish them all the best for the future. Finally, thank you also for your support to MI Platoon.

Let us tell you that the decision to remove Bond has been taken after the appointment of former Mumbai Indians player Lasith Malinga as the bowling coach of Mumbai for 2024. Malinga worked with Rajasthan Royals after retiring from IPL, but now he has again returned to Mumbai Indians.
