Coach resigns after Pakistan’s defeat in the World Cup

Pakistan’s journey to the 2023 World Cup has come to an end. Under the captaincy of Babar Azam, the team could win only 5 matches and finished 5th overall. After the defeat, there is talk of changing the players into captains. Meanwhile, a big news has come out. Morne Morkel has resigned from the post of Pakistan’s bowling coach. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has also confirmed this. Former South African fast bowler Morkel was appointed bowling coach in June this year. That means he had to resign in just 5 months. He has also played in Pakistan Super League.

According to Geo News, Morne Morkel was signed by PCB for 6 months. He has now resigned from his post. A PCB source said, “Morkel has resigned. Former fast bowler Umar Gul is likely to become the new bowling coach. Before the World Cup, Pakistan’s performance in the Asia Cup 2023 was also not good. The team was out of Super-4. According to reports, Babar Azam may also resign from captaincy.

Next trip will be to Australia

Pakistan is scheduled to tour Australia after the World Cup. After this a 3-match test series will be played. However, the team’s record has not been anything special. Umar Gul can be sent to Australia with the team. The first Test will be played in Perth from 14 to 18 December. The second Test will be played in Melbourne from 26 to 30 December while the third and final Test will be played in Sydney from 3 to 7 January.
