Before IPL 2024, Chennai Super Kings are facing failures one after the other. CSK’s explosive batsman Devon Conway was already out of the opening match of the IPL due to injury. After this, another fast bowler from Chennai, Mathisa Pathirana, got injured while playing for Sri Lanka in the second match of the T20 series being played against Bangladesh. Due to this the player was dropped from the third T20. Meanwhile, news has come that players will not be able to play the first season of IPL. If Mathisa Pathirana gets out, the fortunes of the powerful bowler in Chennai may change.

Death over specialist out

The second match of the T20 series between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh was played on 6 March. Players were injured during this match. Due to this they have to sit outside continuously. But Chennai team has got the option of Pathirana. According to the report of Times of India, a CSK official has given this update. Pathirana played a good role while playing for Chennai last season. He is a special death overs bowler. But now that Pathirana will not play, this responsibility can be handed over to Bangladeshi star player Mustafizur Rahman in his place.

How was the last season of Pathirana?

Mathisa Pathirana played 12 matches for Chennai Super Kings last season. During this period, he took 19 wickets with an average of 19.53 and economy of 8.01. In such a situation, when a player is out of the initial match, Chennai gets a big blow. The player’s total IPL career so far has been 14 matches. He made his debut in IPL in the year 2022. This season he got a chance to play only 2 matches, in which he took 2 wickets.

Mustafizur Rahman will fill this gap

Bangladeshi star player Mustafizur Rahman played for Delhi Capitals in the last season of IPL. This year, the Chennai team included the player in their team by paying Rs 2.00 crore. This player made his debut for Mumbai in 2018. He has played 48 IPL matches so far. During this period, he has taken 47 wickets with an average of 30.72 and economy of 7.93. In such a situation, Mustafizur can be seen filling the gap of Pathirana this season.
