CWC 2023: Mumbai Police warns fans against fake ticket sellers

The first semi-final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 will be played between India and New Zealand on 15 November. This match will be played at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. There is a lot of excitement among the fans about this match. All the fans want to go to the stadium to watch this match. However, in view of the craze of the semi-finals, reports of black marketing of match tickets are also coming to the fore. Meanwhile, Mumbai Police DCP Praveen Mundhe has asked fans to beware of fake ticket sellers.

Speaking to ANI, DCP Praveen said, “During the India-Sri Lanka match in the World Cup, we arrested some fake ticket sellers from outside the stadium. I would advise fans to be more careful when purchasing tickets. Fans should only pay the amount mentioned on the website and ticket.

He said, “We have registered a case under sections 420 and 511 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against two people involved in black marketing of tickets during the India-Sri Lanka match. That day the accused were trying to sell a ticket for Rs 1 lakh 20 thousand.

Regarding the security of the stadium, DCP said that before the India Vs New Zealand match in the World Cup semi-final, four matches of the tournament were played at Wankhede Stadium. However, there is a huge craze among the fans regarding the knockout stage match. All tickets for the match have been sold. In such a situation, we are expecting that the stadium will be housefull. Keeping the crowd in mind, we have also tightened security. We have also increased the number of staff and officials for the match.
