CWC 2023: Rohit Sharma has not got a place in the World Cup squad

The league stage of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 (CWC 2023) being played in India has ended, after 45 matches, India, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand have made it to the next stage. At the end of the league stage, Cricket Australia (CA) announced the squad of the tournament for the World Cup 2023. This team will be led by former Indian captain Virat Kohli, while Rohit Sharma will be the vice-captain of the team.

Virat Kohli has performed brilliantly in this World Cup. After the league stage, he was the leading run-scorer with 594 runs at an average of 99 in nine matches. He has scored two centuries and five half-centuries. His highest score was 103 not out against Bangladesh in Pune, which was his 48th ODI century.

Apart from Kohli, the team selected by Cricket Australia also includes many star players of the tournament. South Africa’s Quinton de Kock and Australia’s David Warner were selected as the team’s opening batsmen, while Indian captain Rohit Sharma, who has scored more than 500 runs as an opening batsman, was left out. Rachin Ravindra of New Zealand was also successful in making it.

Apart from Kohli, the other Indian players who were selected included the trio of Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah. Sri Lanka’s Dilshan Madushanka was selected as the 12th player.
