CWC 2023: Will Shubman Gill play in the match against Pakistan? India’s answer

Indian opening batsman Shubman Gill is recovering from dengue. He did not play in India’s opening two matches at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, but ahead of the match against Pakistan, he reached Ahmedabad and also took batting practice on Thursday.

It is expected that the opening batsman will take the field against Pakistan, but former India captain Sunil Gavaskar says that Shubman Gill should be a little careful and there is no need to worry even if he does not play.

Sunil Gavaskar targeted Shubman Gill

Speaking to India Today, Sunil Gavaskar said:

“It will depend on tomorrow (Friday). He played in the net today. It all depends on how your body is doing. They themselves know whether they are fit or not. Now there is nothing to hide, hiding means, if you bat first, you can say that you are injured and cannot come on the field. But as a batsman, if you are not able to bat for 40 overs because you don’t have the strength to play for that long and you are a little weak, then you are not helping your team.”

The former India captain said:

He said, “If you ask them how much you need them, at the moment (Rohit) Sharma has a century, you have Kohli and KL Rahul, who have almost scored centuries. Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer batted well, so there is nothing to worry about. “” “If Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer had not performed well against Afghanistan yesterday, you would have said, OK, he may not be 100 per cent, but with the kind of form he is in, they are included.” It is a big match against Pakistan and it is going to be a great match. I don’t think he will play.”
