Pakistan cricket team relishes Kolkata’s famous biryani, kebabs

Ahead of Pakistan’s ODI World Cup 2023 match against Bangladesh at the Eden Gardens Stadium, Babar Azam’s team ordered biryani, kebabs and chops at the famous Zam Zam restaurant in Kolkata. The ‘Men in Green’ decided to skip dinner at the team hotel to taste Kolkata’s famous biryani.

The Pakistan cricket team ordered food through an online food delivery platform on Sunday. Restaurant director Shadman Faiz said he was initially unaware that the order had come from the Pakistan cricket team, but later came to know about it. Faiz further said that Kolkata has its own style of biryani which is very famous all over the world.

The order came through an online food delivery platform. He ordered three dishes which were Biryani, Kebab and Chap. He had ordered it after 7 pm on Sunday evening. Initially, we did not know that the order was from Pakistan cricket team, but later we came to know about it. I hope they liked the food. People from every country should come and taste our food. Kolkata has its own style of biryani which is very famous all over the world.’

The Pakistan team has decided to spice up their palates with the delicious cuisine of Kolkata, but their dietary habits have been severely criticized by iconic fast bowler and former captain Wasim Akram. Akram had criticized the team for being sluggish on the field after losing to Afghanistan. “It seems like the team is eating kilos of meat every day,” Akram said in a post-match program on a Pakistani channel.

He said, “Look at the fitness level of our players. We have been shouting here for the last three weeks that he has not had a fitness test for the last two years. Now if I give them different names, their faces are going to widen. I eat about 8 kg of Nihari daily. There should be some tests, you are being paid to play for your country and there should be a certain criteria.

Pakistan team is almost out of the World Cup and is currently ranked 7th in the points table with four losses and 2 wins. Their rivals in today’s game Bangladesh are 9th in the table.
