Despite the spectacular victory of the Indian team, the former cricketer said that this is a big shortcoming, there could be a huge loss.

Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra is not happy with the way the Indian cricket team fielded against New Zealand in Dharamsala. He has raised questions on the fielding of the Indian team and said that India’s fielding was very useless in this match.

Indian fielders dropped three catches against New Zealand and they had to bear the brunt of it. New Zealand was given a target of 274 runs to win. Had these catches been taken, perhaps so many runs would not have been scored. Although the Indian team definitely won, there is a matter of concern for the fielding team.

Many catches were dropped in this match – Aakash Chopra

Aakash Chopra, during a conversation on his YouTube channel, raised questions on the fielding of the Indian team. They said,

We are dropping the catch. Our record was good. Players were being given medals for excellent fielding but we said that we will drop catches in this match. We dropped not one or two but many catches. When our best fielder Jadeja drops a catch, we cannot believe our eyes that it is Jadeja. He can also drop catches, Bumrah can do this and KL Rahul can also drop catches.

Let us tell you that in the 21st match of the World Cup 2023 played in Dharamshala, India defeated New Zealand by 4 wickets. Batting first, New Zealand scored 273 runs in the stipulated 50 overs, in reply the Indian team achieved this target by losing 6 wickets in 48 overs. Since 2003, Team India has not defeated New Zealand in any ICC tournament. The team last won against the Kiwis in the 2003 World Cup and have now defeated them in ICC competitions.
