IPL 2024 is in its final stages. After this, Team India will be seen playing T20 World Cup. The last match of IPL will be played on 26 May. Team India is going to start its campaign in the T20 World Cup from June 5. Regarding this time’s IPL schedule, former Team India cricketer Harbhajan Singh had taken a dig at BCCI and termed it wrong. Bhaji believes that Team India needs to play at least 4 to 5 practice matches. Now, another former experienced cricketer of Team India, Anul Kumble has hit back at this statement of Harbhajan.

Kumble’s counter attack on Bhajji

Speaking to Times of India, Anil Kumble said that 14 to 17 matches are enough for Team India to be ready for the World Cup. The Indian players whose teams have not been able to qualify for the playoffs will leave for New York soon and the players whose teams are in the playoffs will leave immediately after the IPL. With this in mind, I believe there is no point in preparing in isolation. So I think there can be nothing better than IPL to prepare for the World Cup. The players have played a lot of matches in the IPL, so they know how their preparation is for the World Cup.

Regarding foreign cricketers leaving the IPL, Anil Kumble said that everyone knew that the players would leave the IPL before the T20 World Cup. So I think the franchise has a backup of those players. Apart from this you have no choice. Of course, teams have to prepare for the World Cup, so England decided to call their players from the IPL and there should be no problem.

Team India’s first match of T20 World Cup 2024 is starting on 5th June. This time this tournament is being played in America and West Indies. Team India will start its campaign from June 5. Team India’s first match will be played with Ireland on June 5 in New York. Team India will face Pakistan on June 9 on this ground.
