ODI World Cup 2023.5 has started in India from October. This tournament will be played till 19 November. The first match was played between Sri Lanka and South Africa. Many records were made in this match and headlines were also made for it. But after that ICC took strict action and punished a team. That means there was a lot of spice in the first three days of the World Cup.

In fact, the ICC found the Sri Lankan team guilty of a slow over-rate in the match against South Africa. After this the team was fined. The ICC found the team two overs behind schedule. He was found guilty under Article 2.2 of the ICC Constitution. This allegation was made by on-field umpires Richard Illingworth and Shahid Saikat, third umpire Michael Gough and fourth umpire Alex Wharf.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has imposed a fine of five per cent of the match fee for each over for failing to bowl in the stipulated time due to slow over-rate. That is, if the team was two overs behind, they were all fined 10 percent of the match fee. Sri Lankan captain Dasun Shanaka admitted the mistake. Therefore, there was no need for further investigation in the matter.

South Africa defeated Sri Lanka by 102 runs. Also, the team suffered a double blow after being found guilty of slow over rate in the defeat. Now the Sri Lankan team will play its next match in the World Cup against Pakistan on October 10 in Hyderabad. Captain Shanaka will definitely not make the mistake of repeating this mistake again in this match.
