Mohammad Shami, IND vs NZ: After missing the first four matches of the World Cup 2023, star bowler Mohammed Shami got a place in the big match against New Zealand. Shami made a splash as soon as he entered this match and did wonders with his first ball of the tournament. He started his spell in the 9th over and clean bowled Kiwi batsman Will Young on the very first ball. He took a wicket on the very first ball. He also equaled Anil Kumble’s World Cup record.

Mohammed Shami overtook Anil Kumble to become India’s highest wicket-taker in ODIs. This was his 32nd wicket in the history of ODI World Cup. Shami had also registered his name in history by taking a hat-trick in the last World Cup. He is the second Indian bowler after Chetan Sharma to take a hat-trick in the World Cup. Shami got a chance in this match after a long wait. Shami replaced Shardul Thakur while Hardik Pandya was ruled out due to injury.
