Kohli’s historic century, Iyer shines, big target for Africa

ODI World Cup 2023: The 37th match of the World Cup 2023 is being played between India and South Africa on October 5 at Eden Gardens. Batting first, India scored 326 runs for five wickets. Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli has done the same once again. He scored 101 not out off 121 balls. During this he scored 10 runs. South Africa will have to score 327 runs in the allotted overs to win the match.

Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer are at the crease.
Apart from King Kohli, Shreyas Iyer’s bat also played well against South Africa. Batting at number four for the Blue team, he faced 87 balls. He scored 77 runs at a strike rate of 88.50. He hit seven fours and two sixes in his innings.

Captain Rohit Sharma also managed to play a short but important innings against South Africa. He had scored 24 runs in the first innings. He scored 40 runs at a strike rate of 166.66. Sharma hit six fours and two sixes in his innings.

Gill, Surya and Rahul.
Opener Shubhman Gill and experienced middle-order batsman KL Rahul as well as Suryakumar Yadav were calm with the bat against South Africa. Gill scored 23 runs on 24 balls. Batting at number five, Rahul scored 18 runs in 17 balls while Suryakumar Yadav scored 22 runs in 14 balls at number six.

Ngidi, Jansen, Rabada, Shamsi and Maharaj got one success each.
For South Africa, Lungi Ngidi, Marco Jansen, Kagiso Rabada, Tabraiz Shamsi and Keshav Maharaj took one wicket each.

Kohli equals Sachin Tendulkar’s centuries in ODIs
Virat Kohli has equaled Sachin Tendulkar’s record of scoring most centuries in ODIs. Both the batsmen have now scored 49-49 centuries respectively in ODIs. If Kohli manages to score another century in the upcoming matches, he will surpass Sachin.
