A lot of runs are being scored in this season of IPL. Batsmen are seen playing record breaking innings. Delhi Capitals batsman Jake Fraser-McGurk batted in a similar manner on Saturday. Playing against Mumbai Indians, McGurk scored a half-century in just 15 balls. He batted explosively with a strike rate of over 300. 80 out of 84 runs were scored only through fours.

In fact, in his explosive innings, McGurk hit 11 fours-6 sixes in 27 balls and scored a total of 84 runs at a strike rate of 311.11. This is the fifth highest score in an IPL innings of 50+ runs made from only fours. This meant that McGurk scored only 80 runs from boundaries in his 84-run innings. McGurk scored 95.23 percent of his runs from boundaries.

Couldn’t break Suresh Raina’s record

Earlier, he had made a similar record by playing a stormy innings against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Then he scored 62 out of 65 runs only through fours. However, despite this brilliant innings, he remained behind Suresh Raina’s record.

Raina scored 84 runs in 87 runs.

Suresh Raina played an explosive innings in the match played against Punjab Kings in 2001, in which he scored 87 runs in 25 balls. Of these, 84 runs came only from boundaries. Raina scored 96.55 runs. Till date no batsman has been able to break this record. Raina hit 12 fours-6 sixes and scored runs at a strike rate of 348.00.

Names of Kyle Mayers and Andre Russell also included

This innings of McGurk reminded the fans of Suresh Raina’s innings. Apart from Raina and McGurk, the names of Kyle Mayers and Andre Russell are also included in this list. Kyle Mayers played an explosive inning of 54 runs against Punjab Kings last year. Out of which 52 runs came from the boundary. Andre Russell played an inning of 65 runs against RCB in Kolkata in 2019. Out of which 62 runs came from the boundary.
