India’s star archer Jyoti Surekha Vennam produced a historic performance at the Archery World Cup on Saturday. She defeated top seed Andrea Becerra of Mexico in Round 1 of the ongoing Archery World Cup in Shanghai. However his challenge was not easy. Jyoti faced tough competition in the individual compound event, but even with the added pressure of the shoot-off, Jyoti performed well. With this he scored a hat-trick of gold medals in the same World Cup stage. His achievement has made India proud.

Achievement of scoring a hat-trick of gold medals in the World Cup

The world number three and Asian Games champion has achieved the feat of scoring a hat-trick of gold medals in the World Cup. Jyoti has become the third female archer in the world and second female archer from India to do so. Jyoti has earlier won gold medals in compound mixed and women’s compound team.

She won gold medals in the individual, women’s team and mixed team events at the Hangzhou Asian Games. Winning three gold medals for the second time in his career was a great achievement.

Abhishek Verma’s brilliant performance

The archer from Andhra Pradesh had performed brilliantly earlier also. She won the women’s team gold medal with world champions Aditi Swami and Preneet Kaur. On the other hand, the mixed team with Abhishek Verma also won the gold medal.

On the other hand, the Indian men’s compound team won the gold medal. Priyansh also performed brilliantly and won the silver medal. This is the first time that the Indian compound team has won four gold and one silver medal at the World Cup stage.
