Afghanistan’s fast bowler Naveen-ul-Haq has announced his retirement from ODI cricket. He had earlier said that he would quit ODI cricket after the World Cup. After Afghanistan’s last league match against South Africa, Naveen-ul-Haq announced his retirement via social media.

Naveen-ul-Haq played a total of 15 ODI matches in his international career, taking 22 wickets in 15 innings at an average of 32.18 and an economy rate of 6.15. Taking 4 wickets for 42 runs was his best performance.

After the match against South Africa, Naveen-ul-Haq shared his story on Instagram and said:

I have worn this jersey with great pride from my first match till my last match. Thank you for all your messages and good wishes.

Let us tell you that Naveen Ul Haq had announced before the World Cup 2023 that he will retire from ODI after this World Cup. He had said,

It is an honor for me to lead my country. I announce my retirement from the ODI format after this World Cup. I will continue to play for my country in the T20 format. It was not an easy decision, but it was a tough decision to take to further my sporting career. I thank the Afghanistan Cricket Board and all our fans for their support and unwavering love.”

Let us tell you that Afghanistan’s performance during the World Cup 2023 was very good. They have won 4 out of 9 matches. If they had won the match against Australia, they would have reached the semi-finals.
