PCB issues update on Pakistan all rounder Shadab Khan’s injury

Pakistani all-rounder Shadab Khan suffered the injury during a direct hit at the non-striker’s end while fielding at mid-on. He fell on his face and was later carried off the field. Subsequently, Pakistan introduced Usama Mir as a concussion replacement.

He said, Shadab Khan was injured during the Pakistan vs South Africa match. After a thorough assessment, the medical panel had no option but to rule him out of the match against Bangladesh. Every precaution is being taken keeping his health and welfare in mind, it said. The evaluation will continue in the coming days.

This was Shadab’s third injury since September last year. While fielding in the Vitality T20 Blast in May this year and before that during the Asia Cup final in Dubai last year, he collided with his Sussex teammate when his head hit Asif Ali’s elbow while fielding.

Pakistan’s hopes of qualifying for the semi-finals are still alive in the do-or-die match against Bangladesh. With all the turmoil going on around, they will be eyeing a convincing win over Bangladesh. A fifth defeat would essentially end their hopes of progressing, even though there are still two matches left.
