ODI World Cup 2023: Indian batsman Shubman Gill has created history in the Indian Premier League. Young Gill has become the fastest batsman in the world to score two thousand runs in the ODI format. Former South African cricketer Hashim Amla was the first cricketer to achieve this feat. The former African cricketer scored two thousand runs in the ODI format in 40 innings. Gill achieved this feat in 38 innings.

The Indian opening batsman has not left behind Hashim Amla in terms of scoring the fastest two thousand runs in the ODI format. He also left Amla’s compatriot Rassie van der Dussen, former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen and current Pakistani captain Babar Azam behind. Dussen, Pietersen and Babar crossed the two thousand mark in the ODI format in 45-45 innings respectively.

Opening the innings against New Zealand, Shubman Gill scored 26 runs in 31 balls at a strike rate of 83.87. During this period he took five wickets. Lockie Ferguson got Gill caught out by Daryl Mitchell. Young Gill was out as the second batsman for the country after scoring a total of 76 runs.
