Sri Lanka Cricket in trouble after poor performance in World Cup 2023, Sports Minister takes big action

ODI World Cup 2023: The Sri Lanka Cricket Board was in turmoil after Sri Lanka’s 302-run defeat to India in the 2023 World Cup. According to The Telegraph report, the matter has escalated so much that the government has dismissed the Sri Lanka Cricket Board administration on Monday.

The action came after Ranasinghe demanded the resignation of the Shammi Silva-led SLC after the loss to India. Following the defeat, protests were also held in front of the SLC campus demanding the resignation of the Silva administration.

Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe appointed a seven-member interim committee headed by former World Cup-winning captain Arjuna Ranatunga. This committee was appointed by Ranasinghe under Sports Law No. 25 of 1973, a Sports Ministry release said. National Sports Council chief Ranatunga Silva, appointed by Ranasinghe, is raising questions on the administration. Silva was elected as SLC chief in May for his third consecutive term which was to run till 2025.

Let us tell you that the match between India and Sri Lanka in the World Cup 2023 was played on 2 November. Sri Lanka had to face defeat by 55 runs. Since then many questions are being raised regarding the coach and management of the team. However, after the match the head coach of the team was also seen defending the players.
