The 2023 World Cup is just around the corner. Meanwhile, ICC has shared information about another big tournament. Cricket fans will once again get to see the thrill of the Champions Trophy. The tournament will be hosted by Pakistan in 2025. How many teams will participate in the tournament and what will be the qualification rules? ICC has already made this clear.

A total of eight teams will compete during the Champions Trophy. If the tournament is held in Pakistan, it will get direct entry as host. The top seven teams from the 2023 World Cup will qualify for the Champions Trophy.

West Indies out of Champions Trophy
West Indies team will also remain out of the Champions Trophy. Earlier they had not been able to qualify for the World Cup. This is the first time in the history of cricket that the West Indies team is not participating in the World Cup.

Once upon a time, Caribbean players used to keep the ball on the cricket field. This is the same team that has won the World Cup twice and the T20 World Cup twice. The last Champions Trophy was held in 2017.

An ICC spokesperson confirmed that the Champions Trophy will be held twice between 2024 and 2031. Eight teams will participate in the competition. The top seven teams from the World Cup 2023 will qualify for the Champions Trophy 2025 along with hosts Pakistan.

In such a situation, the bottom two teams (10th and 9th) will also be out during the World Cup 2023. Looking at the current points table, the teams of England and Bangladesh are not able to qualify for the Champions Trophy. After completion of 28 matches of World Cup 2023, England team is in 10th position and Bangladesh team is in ninth position.
