Wasim Akram discusses Indian head coach: Between the end of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) and the start of the T20 World Cup 2024, the BCCI is actively looking for a new head coach for the Indian team. India’s current head coach Rahul Dravid is set to step down after the T20 World Cup in 2024. According to media sources, one of the big names that BCCI is discussing is former Indian team opener Gautam Gambhir. During this conversation, former Pakistani fast bowler Wasim Akram has revealed who should be the next head coach of the Indian team.

Wasim Akram told who should become the head coach of the Indian team in future

Wasim Akram told Sportskeeda that Gautam Gambhir is the best choice. He said, “It would be great if Gambhir becomes the head coach of the Indian team.” He has all the qualifications to become a coach. Now it is up to them to decide whether to accept this offer or not. I have heard that other names are also being considered, but I believe that BCCI should choose coaches who are already familiar with the system. I believe that apart from Gambhir, Ashish Nehra is the best option as a coach.

Regarding Ashish Nehra, Wasim Akram said, “Ashish Nehra has also done a lot of coaching. People like him. People want to be close to Nehra. He has significant experience. Under his leadership Gujarat Titans won the championship. Apart from this, VVS Laxman can be a great option for the coach.

Let us tell you that during the IPL it was revealed that BCCI wants to make Gautam Gambhir the next head coach of the Indian team. However, there has been no formal confirmation yet. Gautam Gambhir is currently the mentor of Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2024. Since becoming his mentor, KKR has performed commendably and qualified for the playoffs by finishing first. In such a situation, it will be interesting to see who BCCI appoints as the next head coach.
