Women’s cricket team eyes gold, shooting and sailing medals at stake

On the opening day, India’s sailors and shooters led India’s medal tally with a total of five medals in Hangzhou. Monday will see an improvement in the medal tally with a podium finish guaranteed in women’s T20 cricket, where India will take on Sri Lanka in the final. Shooters and sailors will also be eyed to add to the medal tally.

Cricket: Indian women face Sri Lanka (11.30 am)

Another Asian cricket final between India and Sri Lanka is a familiar sight for cricket fans. Smriti Mandhana and Co. cruised to a comfortable win over Bangladesh, while Sri Lanka also put in an impressive performance in their win against Pakistan. Harmanpreet Kaur is likely to return to lead the team in the final as India eyes the gold medal.

Shooting: Rifle Expectations on Men (6.30 am)

After the women’s team impressed on Sunday, the focus will turn to the male rifle shooters. In 10m air rifle, Divyansh Singh Panwar, Aishwarya Pratap Singh Tomar and world champion Rudraksh Patil will be looking for team glory as well as individual medals. The men’s 25m rapid fire event will be stage 2 in which Anish is in good shape to reach the final and the team is also in line for a podium finish.

rowing: More medals at stake (from 7 am onwards)
The men’s single sculls, men’s fours, men’s quadruple sculls and women’s eight finals will see Indians compete in the main medal race. After three medals on the first day in rowing, can rowers add more medals?
