The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided not to burst crackers during matches due to the deteriorating air quality index of both Mumbai and Delhi. Speaking to The Indian Express, BCCI secretary Jay Shah said, “Given the air quality situation in both Mumbai and New Delhi, there will be no fireworks in the matches in these cities as it could increase pollution levels. B. CCI always keeps the interests of fans and other stakeholders at the forefront.”

There will be no fireworks during the match, this time during the World Cup, spectators are getting to see a lighting show with spectacular fireworks in every match. The next match will be played between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh on 6 November in Delhi. Spectators will miss the lighting show in this match.

Meanwhile, Delhi’s air quality is continuously deteriorating. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the air quality in Delhi remained in the ‘very poor’ category for the fifth consecutive day on Wednesday (November 1). Delhi’s air quality index (AQI) reached 373 on Wednesday.
