World Cup 2023 Semifinal Scenario: The Indian cricket team has topped the points table in the ODI World Cup 2023 with 14 points after winning seven consecutive matches. With this win, India also became the first team to qualify for the semi-finals of the ongoing World Cup. India has reached the semi-finals for the fourth consecutive time from 2011 to 2023. Now the question is that apart from the Indian team, which will be the three teams that will make it to the semi-finals. Officially, Bangladesh is the only team that has been eliminated. But if you look at the equation, India has defeated Sri Lanka, Netherlands, Bangladesh and England with this win.

What is the equation?
If you look at the current equation, it will be difficult to qualify for the semi-finals with four wins i.e. 8 points. But something similar was being said on about 10 points. According to the initial equations, it was believed that only 12 points would be valid till the fourth team. But now some maths have started to work out that in the end between Pakistan and New Zealand, with only 10 points each, net run rate may come into play. At the same time, teams like Afghanistan and Netherlands are also ready to cause upsets. Australia’s remaining three matches are against England, Afghanistan and Bangladesh. The team has won four matches. Afghanistan, on the other hand, have played three matches so far and are yet to play against Netherlands, Australia and South Africa. Afghanistan has also reached the semi-finals.

Australia, Pakistan and New Zealand are the teams that have qualified for the semi-finals. South Africa won this match by 7 wickets. In such a situation, even one win will confirm that. The match between Pakistan and New Zealand on November 4 will be important. If Pakistan loses here then the way for New Zealand will be clear. Otherwise, New Zealand will have to register a big win against Sri Lanka in the final match. Pakistan’s work will not be complete, they will also have to defeat England in the final match in such a way that their net run rate is better than the Kiwi team. Now if we talk about the teams with 8-8 points, then England, Sri Lanka and Netherlands will have to win their matches as well as hope for the defeat of others.

India-Pakistan semi-final arithmetic, if Pakistan becomes the fourth team in the semi-final and India remains on top, then the history of 2011 will be repeated once again. In the year 2011, the semi-final match between India and Pakistan was played on the ground of Mohali. As the stakes are now turning, fans are starting to wonder if the semi-final between India and Pakistan will be held again in 2023. The Men in Blue defeated Babar’s Army in the league stage match between the two teams in Ahmedabad. Now we have to see what the equations are till the final league match on 12th.
