Ravichandran Ashwin on Timeout Controversy

Ravichandran Ashwin on Timeout Controversy: A lot is happening in this World Cup, which has never happened before. Be it Afghanistan’s performance or Angelo Mathews’ time-out. Angelo Mathews was given time out against Bangladesh on Shakib’s appeal. Now it has become a controversy. Some players are right, some are wrong. Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has also given a big statement on the time out controversy. Ashwin justified Shakib by saying that he did exactly what he did.

Shakib was not allowed to change his guard.
While discussing the time out controversy on his YouTube channel, Ravichandran Ashwin justified Shakib’s appeal and the umpire’s decision. He said, “Shakib Al Hasan knew the rules of cricket, so he appealed and Mathews was out, there is nothing wrong in that. One side is talking about the rules and the other side is talking about the spirit of cricket. When Mathews came to bat, his helmet was not in good shape and he wanted to change it. I saw another video in which Shakib did not bring his guard against Sri Lanka and he was allowed to bring it later.

‘Matthews had already been warned
He said, “Shakib appealed and the umpire gave him out, I agree with that. Recently, there was a news that Mathews was warned in advance by the umpires about the time-out, but he still went to change the helmet. Mathews is really disappointed to be out like this and he should be. Because no batsman would want to be out like this. Both Angelo Mathews and Shakib Al Hasan were right in this position. One guy knew the rule and the other guy asked if he could let it go because it was a helmet malfunction. At the end of the match, Shakib Al Hasan had said that he had to take a decision for the benefit of his team.
